You are going to love it!
And the best part it will go all over the place with you.

According to a recent poll in the UK by PRS for music, a royalty collection and payment group, the following list is a Top 10 most controversial song list.

According to company chairman Ellis Rich, “These results are particularly interesting as they demonstrate how the power of music can effect society.” He continued with, “Many of these songs have become iconic due to their controversial connotations and have influenced many movements in society over the years.”

I’m thinking number one may surprse you!

10 – “Dear God” – XTC

And no I’m not not about how many days remaining before Thanksgiving (although its only two days away also). No, I’m talking about how may days are left to win yourself a Harley key!!! I’m sure you know the package but I’m going to repeat it anyway…..a brand-spanking new 2011 Harley Davidson Fat Boy Low. This really is a beautiful bike! Once the winner turns their key to win said bike (Dec. 8th at Harrah’s VooDoo Lounge by the way) two important questions will be asked. 1) Are you a registered Rockaholic? Assuming the answer is yes, then 2) Would you like to take home the brand new Dodge Challenger or the brand new Dodge Ram 4×4? I’m sure you already know that you can check out pictures of all three rides right here on 989therock.com.

That said, it bears repeating…..ONLY 2 DAYS LEFT TO WIN YOURSELF A KEY!!!! Not only will you have chances to call in on air and win them but in the next couple of days we will be broadcasting at the very places we got these rides and giving you more chances to win. Today (Tuesday) from 12p-2p we will be out at New Century Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Paola where the Challenger and the Ram were birthed. Tomorrow we will be out at Worth Harley Davidson North where that bike was forged from 11a-1p. Come out to both and increase your chances of winning a key!!!

Good luck and I’ll see you there!!

Only three days left for you to claim your key for that new Fatboy Low and truck or car!

Now the big question is “how do I win a key”?
I dont really know so I am coming to you to help me and everyone else on this.

If you have won a key this time or in the past let me know!
(If you are willing to share your secret.)

Come on! Give it up!
Good luck!

METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett accidentally knocked a little girl off stage after kicking a large beachball at her during the band’s November 11 concert in Sydney, Australia. The incident happened while the band was performing the song “Seek And Destroy”.

METALLICA has issued the following statement regarding the incident: “In the whacky world of rock’n'roll, sometimes stuff happens which looks even weirder than it really is! And with context being vital in these situations, we just wanted to address something which happened on the tour the other night regarding a large beachball, a band member’s foot and a little girl.

“Some of you will have seen on YouTube (or read in some reports) that Kirk knocked a small child offstage by kicking a beachball at her. That little lady is the daughter of the stage manager and dressing coordinator, who are fortunate to travel as a family on this tour. She was thoroughly enjoying watching the beachballs drop from the rafters, Kirk was thoroughly enjoying kicking the beachballs off the stage and back into the crowd as has been done every night on the tour, and neither of them saw the other. The poor wee one happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. She wasn’t hurt. She didn’t go ‘flying several feet into the audience.’ And Kirk and she remain good buddies.

Long-running Venice Beach, California thrash/punk band SUICIDAL TENDENCIES has issued the following statement:

“Sunday night SUICIDAL TENDENCIES played New York City to 2000 old- and new-school Cycos! It’s always great to hit the East Coast and catch up with a lot of our friends, bands and family. Unfortunately, the New York City show will be the last show of this tour. Sadly, one of the band members had a parent pass away suddenly and needed to fly home to be with his family in this difficult time and handle all the funeral arrangements, etc. With heavy hearts, the band decided it would be best to postpone the remaining SUICIDAL TENDENCIES shows and make them up sometime next year. We appreciate your understanding, your thoughts and your prayers. Please give us a few days and we will try and let those who already have tickets how how to get refunds, etc. Again, we are so sorry to have to postpone these shows, but hope that everyone will be able to understand, and we’ll do our best to make the dates up.”

The postponed dates are:

Nov. 17 – Metro – Chicago, IL
Nov. 18 – Cabooze – Minneapolis, MN
Nov. 20 – Summit- Denver, CO
Nov. 21 – Sunshine Theatre – Albuquerque, NM

Ok, so the title makes it sound a little more dramatic and evil than it really is but Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett kicked a giant beach ball right into a kid’s face while playing Seek and Destroy (no pun intended). You can see the kid towards the bottom of the screen a little to the right of the center wearing bright yellow pants. Obviously it wasn’t intentional and the ball was bigger than the kid so I doubt Kirk even saw the poor little bugger, but in his defense the security guy totally tee’d it up for him…..

You gotta admit though, it was a pretty good kick….nice follow through

Counting down to the band’s 30th anniversary, SLAYER’s Kerry King sat down and talked about “The Vinyl Conflict”, the band’s high-end, limited edition vinyl box set that was just released. Representing SLAYER’s entire American Recordings catalogue, “The Vinyl Conflict” begins with 1986’s genre-defining “Reign In Blood”, and goes all the way up to the band’s most recent release, 2009’s “World Painted Blood”. It’s the musical history of SLAYER all in one über-cool box, and in the video clip below, King shares a few memories about all ten of the releases.

Ten albums on 11 discs, “The Vinyl Conflict” features the following releases:

* Reign in Blood (1986)
* South of Heaven (1988)
* Seasons In The Abyss (1990)
* Live Decade of Aggression (1991)
* Divine Intervention (1994)
* Undisputed Attitude (1998)
* God Hates Us All (2001)
* Christ Illusion (2006)
* World Painted Blood (2009)
