Once again it is time to break  the bikes out and get ready for another season.

I have already heard of some of our fellow riders going down.

This time of year is very dangerous for riders.

First off we have not had as much saddle time and some of the reflexes may be a bit rusty.

Second, there is a ton of salt and sand still on the roads from all the snow we had.

Third, our four wheel friends have not seen us out much lately.

So as you get your bike all ready for the beautiful weather give yourself a reminder that is is a little risky out there and to be as safe as you can.

For me a ride is the best way to get the head clear.

If I have had a bad day or just need to escape that is the means in which I choose to do it.

But on the same hand nothing will jack up your day worse that a wreck!
So please be careful as you go out for your ride and for those of you on four wheels  please give us a little bit of space.

We may be able to miss you if you pull out in front of us but me personally…I dont want to have to.

And for those of you on two wheels…Be smart when you ride.

That is my dad speech for today.

Now get out there and have some fun!
Ill see you on the road!

We are getting close now.
Over the past four months (yes before Christmas) I have had many calls and emails about Rockfest 2010.
Someone had heard for their brothers friends cousin that we were not going to have it this year.
That was wrong…Hell yeah we are going to have it and stop listening to you brothers friends cousin!
They are never a good source of info!
Another person called wondering if we were going to have Nirvana (I assume this person had had a few beers that day) and as far as I know Nirvana will not be there.
I am finally glad to have some concrete info to give you.
As of today we are only two weeks from the announcement.
March 15th the news breaks on Johnny’s show!
Till then let the rumors fly!

Ps. Nirvana will not be there.

Here is my view once again from high atop the Entercom building.
It seems all too familiar.
Another view of snow and more salt on the road than you can shake a stick at.
Adding insult to injury…we still have a month of winter left.
Even worse we are on the way to breaking a snow record for KC.
Don’t get me wrong I do love snow.
But I like it around Christmas!
It also doesn’t help that when watching the weather on the news (yes I watch allot of weather) that I am reminded that a year ago we were sunny and near 70.
This reminds me of the cold, snow filled, don’t have school, kind of days I had growing up in Northern Iowa.
I’m ready to get the bike out for more than a few minutes.
I would even be ok with being a little cold but snow and bikes are a bad combo!
So all those in favor of sunny and 70 please raise your hands!
Till next time!

M

Ps. Yes I will probably be bitching about the heat here in about 5 months.
Come on spring!  Get here soon!

“You have to feel it in your heart because it never makes sense in your head”.
So there you have it!
Worked for me.
Till next time!

Ps. Allot of the other married guys are telling me that I need to start paying “married guy” dues?
Any truth to that and if I do pay when can I start getting a cut of that cash!
First of all thank you very much for all the congrats calls and emails.
After five years Jess and I finally tied the knot.
It was a real nice little service.
More of a elope really.
But in the end we got it done!
I would have never thought in a million years that I would be the guy to get married.
There were many conversations with my married friends and I had more that my fair share of questions as to what it was like, what changes, all the usual stuff.
Now that it is all said and done I would like to give some great advice to those of you thinking about.

During a show The Bob and I were talking about it and he said to me

The day after the Super Bowl.
I am not one to talk sports very often but I have to admit it was a hell of a game.
The Saints really in the end just wanted it more.
I have also found that it is kind of fun to watch a game where you are not really pushing for either team.
But now for the important question…Favorite commercial?
What do you think?
I would have to lean towards the Doritos Ninja or maybe the Megan Fox in the bath tub.
Who ‘am I trying to kid!
It was Megan Fox in the bath tub…What was she even selling in there?

What was yours?

Till next time!

Yup I am talking about the Rockaholic pre-sale for the Low Dough Show with Sevendust and Drowning Pool.
Seems like they just keep getting faster and faster.
Since the sell out I have had many calls and emails about the “scalpers” getting all the tickets.
Unfortunately there really is nothing we can do to stop that but there is something you can do to stop it.
Don’t buy their tickets.
Keep trying your luck on winning them or just contact the person that you see online and try to talk them down on the price.
You know what they paid.
Make them a fair offer.
Dont forget there is a service fee on the tickets but if they want 50 for a 9.89 ticket that is a bit out of hand.
Not everyone you find with extra tickets will try to gouge you one the price.
Some got tickets and found out after the fact they had to work or could not make the show for some reason.
But to those who bought a bunch just to make money, I say shame on you.
I guess in the future when a Rockaholic pre-sale fires up do whatever you can to make sure you are close to a computer so you can be one of the first to get your tickets.

Sorry about the rant.

Till next time!

Just got this email from a friend this morning.
It was too good not to share!

How stupid do you have to be to protest leather at a private biker rally?

Johnstown, PA (GlossyNews)- Local and state police scoured the hills outside rural Johnstown, Pennsylvania, after reports of three animal rights activists going missing after attempting to protest the wearing of leather at a large motorcycle gang rally this weekend. Two others, previously reported missing, were discovered by fast food workers “duct taped inside several fast food restaurant dumpsters,” according to police officials.

“Something just went wrong,” said a still visibly shaken organizer of the protest.”Something just went horribly, horribly, wrong.”

The organizer said a group of concerned animal rights activist groups,”growing tired of throwing fake blood and shouting profanities at older women wearing leather or fur coats,” decided to protest the annual motorcycle club event “in a hope to show them our outrage at their wanton use of leather in their clothing and motor bike seats.”"In fact,” said the organizer,”motorcycle gangs are one of the biggest abusers of wearing leather, and we decided it was high time that we let them know that we disagree with them using it…ergo, they should stop.”

According to witnesses, protesters arrived at the event in a vintage 1960’s era Volkswagen van and began to pelt the gang members with balloons filled with red colored water, simulating blood, and shouting “you’re murderers” to passers by. This, evidently, is when the brouhaha began.

“They peed on me!!!” charged one activist.”They grabbed me, said I looked like I was French, started calling me `La Trene’, and duct taped me to a tree so they could pee on me all day!”

“I…I was trying to show my outrage at a man with a heavy leather jacket, and he…he didn’t even care. I called him a murderer, and all he said was,`You can’t prove that.’ Next thing I know he forced me to ride on the back of his motorcycle all day, and would not let me off, because his girl friend was out of town and I was almost a woman.”

Still others claimed they were forced to eat hamburgers and hot dogs under duress. Those who resisted were allegedly held down while several bikers “farted on their heads.”

Police officials declined comments on any leads or arrests due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, however, organizers for the motorcycle club rally expressed “surprise” at the allegations.

“That’s preposterous,” said one high-ranking member of the biker organizing committee.”We were having a party, and these people showed up and were very rude to us. They threw things at us, called us names, and tried to ruin the entire event. So, what did we do? We invited them to the party! What could be more friendly than that? You know, just because we are all members of motorcycle clubs does not mean we do not care about inclusiveness. Personally, I think it shows a lack of character for them to be saying such nasty things about us after we bent over backwards to make them feel welcome.”

When confronted with the allegations of force-feeding the activists meat, using them as ad hoc latrines, leaving them incapacitated in fast food restaurant dumpsters, and `farting on their heads,’ the organizer declined to comment in detail.”That’s just our secret handshake,” assured the organizer.

Hope you got as big or a kick out of this as I did!

…Not quite.
Still snow on the ground but for the rest of the week we are going to be above freezing.
Before you know it we will be back on the road and hopefully soon F’Em Up and myself will be getting some good 100 Mile Radius in here for you.
We have been talking quite a bit about some good locations but always open for more.
If you have a killer ride in your area let me know.
Just post here or shoot me a email at  moose at 989therock.com
Till then go out and get yourself a new piece of chrome, that new exhaust, or grab a sled and find suicide hill!

Be safe!

…Sort of.
Sure is good to be home but Christmas vacation ‘09 was a hell of a trip.
Starting with the Christmas Eve snowstorm to the sub-zero temps of ‘10.
Here are a few pictures from my “South Texas Death Trip” as I like to call it.
Took off Sunday after Christmas and made it down to Laredo Texas.
Why you ask…Beats me just wanted to make a run for the border.
Even though a week before I got there it was in the 80’s down there it was still nice to see some sixties.
Crossed the border in to Mexico and bought more than my fair share of junk.
I did find a almond flavored tequila that will really creep up on you if you don’t watch yourself with it.
Mexico was awesome but you forget that just about a mile South of Texas you can see the police cruising through the streets with fully automatic weapons and APC’s.
Makes me feel good to be and American.
That was part one of the “South Texas Death Trip” now for part two….SNOW…In Texas…Yeah!
South of Dallas I ran into a hell of a snow storm!
Other than that it was a great trip.
Did a quick shot up for New Years to see the family in Iowa and got caught in the -20 weather (you know it is cold when your beard freezes just walking thru the parking lot).
Although I did see some great sights, ate some great food, and had allot of fun like they say there is no place like home.
Here is to a new year KC!
I cant wait!
