So much music news to pimp out this week.

*I’m aware we don’t play any Miles Davis but many of those in the world of Rock-n-Roll know who Davis is and his importance on the world of music and the legacy he left behind. Thus, it’s with extreme enthusiasm I share with you that actor Don Cheadle is making the Miles Davis Biopic a reality! The storyline, as of now, will focus on one day in Davis’ life with Herbie Hancock handling the music.

*Looks like Vegas is getting in on the rock festival idea. The inaugural 48 Hour Festival will take place at the Luxor Festival Grounds on Saturday, October 15th, and Sunday, October 16th. Headliners will be Avenged Sevenfold, Korn and Godsmack with support from Five Finger Death Punch, Three Days Grace, Seether, Bullet For My Valentine, Hollywood Undead, Sick Puppies, Escape the Fate, Sevendust, Adelitas Way, Rev Theory, 10 Years, Art of Dying and many more!

*Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, founding members of KISS, will team up with rock journalist Ken Sharp on “Nothin’ To Lose” which will be an oral history of KISS’ early years. What makes this story interesting is the fact that two different KISS memoirs are due out soon. Guitarist Ace Frehley’s “No Regrets” drops on November first and, drummer, Peter Criss has a book planned for 2012. Will Simmons and Stanley’s book be a counter to theirs? I suppose we’ll find out.

*Are you like me and still a young kid at heart? When you see certain figurines… or dolls as some say… of your favorite rock god do you buy them? Maybe you’ve got a few of the Todd McFarlane collection. Well now you can own the Beastie Boys! Little dolls were made for their most recent video of “Don’t Play No Game that I Can’t Win” and will only set ya back… $750! Hey, that’s ONLY $250 a piece.

*Queen fans mark September 5th on your day planner as their two-night stint at Wembly Stadium, back in 1986, is coming to DVD. Not only will you be entertained by some of Queen’s biggest hits, you’ll also enjoy behind-the-scenes features which include new interviews with Brian May and Roger Taylor.

*Believe it or not U2’s Actung Baby is twenty years old and the Irish rockers will be re-issuing it on November first. There’s to be five different remastered re-releases including packages that include vinyl, CD’s and DVD’s.

*This week the board game Monopoly busted out two new versions of their old game with Metallica Monopoly and AC/DC Monopoly.

*Dream Theater announced their fall tour this week. Beginning in September on the 24th in San Francisco and ending in Austin on the 26th of October. As of now, no stops planned for KC and it seems the closest would be in Pittsburgh, PA.

*And finally, how would you like to own John Bonham’s old classic car from the 1976 concert film “The Song Remains The Same”? Seems the current owner, Bruce Screen, is hoping the car will be picked up by a museum where it can be appreciated. Screen purchased the car in 2000 and hasn’t taken it out much because he was “too frightened to drive it on the roads”.

After a couple of weeks hiatus, I am back and on the air! What a vacation it was! Had a great time traveling with the crew of “Into the Drink” as they filmed an episode of the tv show to showcase Greece and many of the sites it has to offer. In fact, they got enough material that they’re probably going to make 2 episodes out of it. I posted a travel blog while I was gone that you can access at my fan page on Facebook. If you haven’t seen it already, it’s really easy to use. Just click on “Travel Map” underneath the profile pic to get to it. Once there, just click on any of the destination points for blogs and pics from that day’s activites.

Had an awesome time but it’s good to be back and get back on the air!!

So almost everyday I get the question about the future of Slipknot.

Here is the latest:

SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor says that he is still “on the fence” about recording a new album with the band.

The Iowa-based act has just completed a three-week European tour — its first since the death last year of bassist Paul Gray

During a July 11 online reading and webchat to promote his new book, “Seven Deadly Sins”, Taylor was asked how he felt about making a new SLIPKNOT album. “I feel better about it, but I’m still kind of on the fence,” he replied. “We’re taking baby steps and we’re going to take our time.”

The frontman added that he really enjoyed SLIPKNOT’s headlining set at the U.K. edition of the Sonisphere festival on Sunday, July 10 and thanked everyone who participated in the two minute silence for Gray. He said, “I did enjoy the show. The whole tour has been great. Thank you to everyone who came and everyone who participated in the two minutes of silence for Paulie; he would have been so proud.”

In a May 2011 interview with a Grand Rapids, Michigan radio station, Taylor stated about the public comments of other SLIPKNOT members like Shawn Crahan and Joey Jordison, who have insisted that they want to make a new album, “The only thing we’ve really sat down together as a band and talked about was the tour, and what we’re gonna do and whatnot. But I’m not the guy who’s gonna sugarcoat anything, I’m not the one who’s gonna spoonfeed false hope to the fans, especially about something like this. If this tour doesn’t work, this band might be over — straight up. And I’m not gonna lie; I’m not the guy that’s going to lie to the fans.”

Taylor did say that even if this is SLIPKNOT’s last tour, he’d like to see the band play the U.S. one last time. “It really depends on what happens in Europe,” he said. “If it’s meant to go on, it’ll be very obvious to us within the first show. But even if it was our last tour, it would be good to, you know, at least do a U.S. run and just kind of let the audience say goodbye.”

SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison said in an April 2011 interview that the band will carry on “with or without Taylor.”

So when I first heard about this I was on the fence.

But after reading this I think I may be cool with it?!

And it is a bad ass commercial!

Hell…I might start doing laundry now!

Rob Zombie has established himself since 2003 as one of horror’s most brutal filmmakers, but his latest project may be his most horrifying yet: The rocker-turned-director recently got behind the camera for a commercial for laundry detergent Woolite. Zombie completed the spot, called “The Torturer”, in mid-April and talked about accusations from the some critics that he has “sold out,” “I hadn’t even thought about [a fan backlash], it hadn’t crossed my mind.

“Whenever anyone talks about selling out it’s the most absurd statement anyone could make. I’ve never done anything I didn’t want to do, to me selling out is changing your music, your image, everything based on some sort of corporate manipulation to become rich and famous. I’ve never done that.

“When someone says I’ve sold out I say, ‘What do you do for a living?’ and maybe they’ll say, ‘Oh, I work at Walmart.’ So they’re corporate whores for the largest corporation in the world but have the nerve to [call me a] ’sell-out?”‘

He added, “I like doing different things, I did an episode of ‘CSI: Miami’ because I wanted to see what it was like to do a TV show and now a commercial; you want to get these things under your belt.

“The funny thing is a lot of people are like, ‘Oh it’s so weird that you’re doing this’ but every single director does it, it’s just that they don’t usually mention it. I could’ve easily done that commercial and never said a word and no one would ever know but I thought it was funny so I told people about it.”

Holy cow what a weekend!
Finally got a spring race out at the track and all I can say is DAMN!
The heat was on, the beer was cold (till the ice melted), and the fun was kick ass!
There is just something bad ass about spending a weekend grilling three meals a day with friends and family, and drinking beers before 8am.

Still in recovery mode from weekend but got some great pics for you to check out!
See ya at the fall race!

4 days away baby!! The biggest, most bad-ass one day music festival in the country is practiaclly right on top of us. I thought I’d help you out a little and repost the FAQ section of kcrockfest.com so you know what you can/can’t bring etc. For full details visit that website and we’ll see you all at Rockfest!!!!

What should I bring to Rockfest?
■One sealed bottle of water, 24 ounce maximum. Free refills will be available through out the show.
■Blankets
■Binoculars
■Small digital cameras. Nothing with a removable lens
■Cell phones
■Sunscreen in plastic container
■Plastic Bags – The kind you’d get at the grocery store
■Draw String Book Bags – No pockets. No zippers.

What should I leave at home?
■Umbrellas
■Glass containers
■Weapons of any sort, including pocket knives
■Wallet chains
■Recording devices
■Food
■Coolers
■Chairs
■No pets except service animals
■Camelbacks
■Backpacks – not even as purses.

What if I need to bring in medical supplies? If you have a medical condition that requires you to bring medical supplies, explain what you have at the main entrance. You will be directed to the medical trailer next to the main entrance where your supplies can be kept or administered.

Is Rockfest an all-ages show? Yes, Rockfest is an all ages show. In no way is Rockfest child friendly and we encourage you to leave the kids at home. Should you decide to bring a child, the child will need a ticket.

Can you leave the show then come back later?Only with a new ticket. No re-entry.

Warning: Every year hundreds of people come to Rockfest with fake VIP passes or fake Backstage passes. Most are purchased on-line. There are NO VIP passes. There are NO backstage passes. They do not exist in any form, so if you buy one, it’s guaranteed the pass is fake. What happens when people show up with a fake pass? Security tells them your pass is fake, you were ripped off, and the show is sold-out so you can’t come in. How much would that suck? Don’t let it happen to you. The only entry into Rockfest is a Ticketmaster ticket. Anything else is just a scam.

Saturday is the day we have been waiting for.

Rockfest 2011 is so close now.

Been getting a lot of questions about what to bring and not.

If you need all the details you can find them at www.kcrockfest.com And I mean everything can be found there from autograph booth details to set times.

Check out the map so you have your day planned out.

Plus if you are wanting me to get you hitched at Rockfest under the FAQ section there is all the info about how to get you license from Missouri.

And yes you will need it that day or you will not be legally married.

But if you want to renew or just make a commitment ceremony that is cool too!
That’s it for today!
See ya Saturday!

Bob posted this on his blog at kcrockfest.com and I thought I would repost it here to help get the word out. This is going to be awesome!!!

Zakk Wylde To Play National Anthem
Posted 05 May 2011 in Bob’s Blog
We are very pleased to announce that the one and only Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society will perform his guitar version of the National Anthem to open the Monster Energy Main Stage at Rockfest 2011! Zakk will be accompanied by a Marine Corps Honor Guard presenting our Nation’s colors. Considering Rockfest takes place at The Liberty Memorial, the only WWI Memorial in the United States, nothing could be more fitting.

We’ve all known Zakk to be very generous and patriotic performer. He’s always given his time to support our troops, spend quality time with his fans, and participate in many charity events. Black Label Society is headlining the Jose Cuervo Second Stage with a set beginning at 9pm. The night before Rockfest, the band is playing in Denver. When we asked Zakk to perform the Star Spangled Banner, he did not hesitate to say they would leave Denver early, make sure to arrive in Kansas City on time, and that he was honored to pay tribute to our great country opening Rockfest.

Make sure you’re in front of the Monster Energy Main Stage just before 1:30 p.m. for this special performance. Thank you Zakk for always being an amazing performer and one hell of a good guy!

Just looking around online today and saw this!

A 24-year-old man is currently on trial in Australia for allegedly beating his roommate to death … all because the victim didn’t wanna listen to Limp Bizkit.

James Madden has been charged with the murder of 48-year-old Emmanuel McPherson — for allegedly smashing an alcohol bottle over his head and stomping him to death back in 2009.

According to the Brisbane Times, the fight allegedly broke out when McPherson tried to stop Madden from playing an L.B. album on their stereo. No word on which album incited the furor.

After Emmanuel was killed … James allegedly wrapped his body in a sheet and dumped it in a nearby creek.

The trial is still underway.

(Now don’t get me wrong I still ‘am a fan of LB but I’m not going to take it this far!)

Ps. If your buddy really wants to listen to a song maybe from now on just let him!
