THIS monday, March 15th, is the day we’ve been waiting for! Johnny Dare will have all the details concerning……(drumroll)…………ROCKFEST 2010!!!!! Make sure to listen to the morning show this monday as Johnny will have ALL the details…when, where, who, ticket prices, ticket on-sale date AND the Rockaholic pre-sale details (hint, hint, make sure you’re a registered Rockaholic but I’m sure you already know why). Its going to be a great day, a great party and one that you won’t want to miss (are there really any that you do want to miss?…I didn’t think so).

Summer begins with Rockfest 2010 and the details are close!!!

That time of the year to fill out your brackets and find some way to catch the games at your place of business without the boss finding out. Already, people are talking smack but the reality is this….its anyone’s title to win. Just look at what happened back in 1988 (I’m sure you know by now I’m a big KU fan). The Jayhawks weren’t even ranked that year and no one gave them a chance to go past the first or second round let alone the whole thing, but the Cinderella story took place and Danny and the Miracles took home the trophy. I do think KU has a great chance to bring home another title this year but they are going to have to fight through some incredible teams and incredible games to get there. So good luck to all the teams that make the dance. I look forward to watching some amazing basketball….even the games which my team isn’t playing in. MARCH MADNESS BABY AND ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!!!!!!!

We Are The World

I recently heard that a large group of singers, rappers and other celebs have gathered together to remake “We Are the World” in response to the recent eathquake in Haiti. As I’m sure you already know, the original is a song and charity single originally recorded by the supergroup USA for Africa in 1985. It was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, and co-produced by Quincy Jones and Michael Omartian. As of 2009, it has sold more than 20 million units and raised over $63 million for humanitarian aid in Africa and the US. “We Are the World” has demonstrated that diverse musicians can productively work together, and has further influenced the movement within pop music to create songs that address humane concerns.

While I applaud the effort to help people and nations around the globe, when I heard of this idea to remake the song, only one thought came into my mind…….all of these major “artists” in one place and nobody could write a new song??? Seriously??

Hello!

Hope you don’t mind me throwing in a shameless plug here but if you’re looking for a great rock show on Saturday Feb 13th (yes fellas, that would be the day before Valentine’s Day…consider yourself warned and reminded) come on out to the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre at the Uptown Theater! Thrust will be there along with my band, Load Point Pull. Troglodyte, Changing Faith and Forever Grey round out the bill and it’ll be a killer night…plus, its an ALL AGES show!! Tickets are $12 ($10 if you ask the bands REALLLLY nicely) and you can get them from any member of any of the bands, through Ticketmaster or at the door.

Ok, this is going to be badass!! When Bob told me the line-up for the latest Low Dough Show, I had to have him repeat it more than once because I couldn’t believe my ears. Sevendust and Drowning Pool together on one stage Feb. 26th at the Midland Theater. Don’t get me wrong, the line-up itself is awesome but both bands for $9.89 is BEYOND awesome!! Tickets for Rockaholics go on sale at 10a tomorrow morning and THESE TICKETS WILL GO FAST!!! If you are even considering going to this show, grab your tickets as soon as you can. $9.89 plus the service charge…not bad! IF any tickets are left they’ll be on sale Friday morning. Friday Feb 26th!! Wait…Friday?? ….I think I may feel a cold coming on that night;)

Resolutions

Hello!

Well, the New Year is officially under way and I’m sure that some resolutions have already been broken. I’m always curious to hear some of the strange things people make as resolutiuons. I’m not talking about “I’m going to quit smoking” or “I’m going to lose 10 pounds” or anything like that…I mean strange ones like “I’m going to try not to laminate my testicles”, that sort of thing, but real legit (although strange and off the wall) resolutions. I’m sure you know somebody who has made one that raised at least one eyebrow. Here’s your chance to rat them out…post them here and let me know!!

Happy Holidays everyone!! Hope you had a good one so far! I managed to come down with a pretty good cold but still had a good weekend. Don’t forget to pick up your New Years Eve Big Ball tickets!! What a way to bring in the new year…Midland Theater w/Rev Theory, Cavo and Red Line Chemisty!! Rev Theory will actually be on stage, in their set the clock stikes midnight….this is going to be awesome!! Hope to see you all there!

This goes back to my post about the Michael Jackson coverage….ENOUGH OF THE TIGER WOODS STORY!!! Seriously, its not a story anymore. Its ok if the late night talk show hosts want to kick him in the balls for awhile, that’s their job….not the news anchor’s. There are plenty of more important things going on in the world to keep drilling this into the ground. I can sum it up for everyone very quickly…Tiger Woods cheated on wife multiple times…wife moves out…every is stunned……….back to you.

Life without a water heater

I’m just going to cut to the chase..it SUCKS!! Yes, ‘ol Bessy decided to call it quits over the weekend just in time for the sub-zero weather to roll into KC. Granted, I was more awake than usual each morning but taking a shower with near ice pellets is not my idea of a good time. I’m going to go Andy Rooney on you here…You ever notice that your air conditioner never dies in the winter or your heater in the summer? Its never even when you first turn it on for the season when the weather is transitioning. If it would have happened THIS weekend when its supposed to be in the 40’s instead of last weekend and into this week when the wind chill was averaging -5, I may not have woken my neighbors with inventive cursing each day. Needless to say, I will NOT be joining the Polar Bear club anytime soon but at least I won’t have to keep practicing for it since I have replaced the old unit. So, next time the alarm goes off and you think its the worst thing in the world to wake up to….trust me, a worse wake up call is one shower knob away!
